Reason for Policy/Purpose


This policy is required for the effective communication of university policy regarding solicitation in the residence halls.

All students of The University of Southern Mississippi community living on campus.

Policy/Procedures


Solicitation is not permitted in the residence halls. Exceptions to the policy must be cleared with the director of Residence Life and the director of the Union and Programs department.  Solicitation includes any activities performed for the purpose of selling and promoting a product or service, such as door-to-door knocking, campaigning for SGA or other political offices, or the distribution of pamphlets and flyers.

 

Students in residents halls who sees anyone soliciting in the halls should report it to an RA or hall supervisor immediately. Individuals wishing to have fundraisers or to sell items on campus must obtain prior permission from the Union and Programs department. This applies to all student groups as well.

 


Review


The Director of Student Housing Administration is responsible for the review of this policy every four years (or whenever circumstances require immediate review).
