To qualify for consideration as an exchange student, you should:

• Be enrolled in an accredited U.S. university
• Be in clear academic standing
• Possess a minimum of 2.0 GPA overall on a 4.0 scale
• Have completed at least 28 hours of college/university credit

Additional Eligibility Requirements • Successful completion of at least four semesters of conversational classes are strongly recommended.

Note:  Students must also satisfy any curricular requirements for enrollment in a particular course of study or at a particular host institution.  Applicants for programs in France, Germany, Spain, or Mexico, for example, normally have completed a minimum of four college-level semesters of that language – and may in some cases need more.

Note:   Southern Miss exchange participants are required to inform their advisors or major department chairs about their credit-abroad program prior to departure from the U.S.  These faculty members may have special instructions regarding coursework undertaken abroad and should be consulted at the earliest opportunity.
