Computer Lab Information
Overview
iTech is committed to providing equal computer access to all students, faculty, and staff through computer labs. In terms of user access, iTech defines a "full access" lab as being available to all students, faculty, and staff on a first-come, first-serve basis during all of its established hours of operation. Lab Assistants are provided in full access labs during all hours of operation to assist users and to manage equipment.
iTech determines hours of operation for full access labs based upon the following guidelines:
- Weekday evening hours and weekend hours of operation vary from lab to lab.
- Hours of operation will vary each semester and will be posted on the door of each lab at the beginning of the semester.
In terms of user access, iTech defines a "contingent access" lab as one that can be reserved for instructional use but that, apart from such use, functions with the same availability and personnel support as that of a full access lab. Instructional use includes teaching part or all of a class, as well as workshops, seminars, lectures, and special student priorities. Lab Assistants are typically not available for user assistance and for equipment management during reserved hours. Notice must be posted two weeks in advance of any schedule change.
In general, departments provide and support such labs within the respective colleges and schools of the University. The respective department or college should provide personnel to serve as a technical point of contact for lab support. iTech will provide consulting services via such personnel. If you have questions regarding a private access lab, please consult with the department or college that controls the lab.
