Entourage Mail Client Configuration

**If you are trying to access your mail from off campus, you will have a different outgoing SMTP server setting depending on your internet service provider. Consult with your ISP to get your SMTP settings.

Open the Entourage program and go the Tools menu on the toolbar. Drop down the menu and choose the Accounts tab at the very bottom.

From here the Account window will open. Choose New for a new account and a smaller New Account window will come up. Under Account type choose POP and then click ok.

Under the Account name put USM. Make sure the “Include this account in my “Send and Receive All” schedule box is checked.

In the name box type your name as you would like it to appear on your email. Then in the following box type your email address. This will be your first name.your last name@usm.edu.

Under the Receiving Mail section type your Account ID, which will be w + empil ID (i.e. w123456). The POP server will be “mail.usm.edu” and the password is your SOAR Password. Check the box that says “Save password in my Mac OS keychain.

Under Sending Mail, the SMPT server will be “smtp.usm.edu”

Under the Receiving Mail section click on the “Click here for advanced receiving options” box.

Click the “This POP service requires a secure connection (SSL)” box. The next choice down will have blank spot for a number. The number should read 995.

Once finished click OK and your E-mail account is set up and ready to get mail.
