**If you are trying to access your mail from off campus, you will have a different outgoing SMTP server setting depending on your internet service provider. Consult with your ISP to get your SMTP settings.

In Microsoft Outlook,
in order to reconfigure it to use
POP3S(Pop3 over SSL), you will have
to follow the steps listed here.
First, click on Tools ->
E-Mail Accounts as shown
above.
|
| |
Select View
or Change Existing E-Mail Accounts
and click Next
|
| |
Highlight the USM
account, and click Change
|
 |
The info should be
filled as shown above, with your
own e-mail address and username
of course. The Incoming
should be mail.usm.edu
and the Outgoing
should be smtp.usm.edu.
Once those values are verified,
click the More Settings
button.
|
| |
In the Settings
menu, click the Advanced
tab. On the Advanced
tab, check the box under Incoming
server that reads This
server requires a secure connection(SSL).
When this box is checked, the port
number should change to 995
automatically.
|
| That
should be all that is needed. Click
OK and close out
of the menus, and Outlook should be
configured to use POP3S on the new
mail server. |
