Today, i>clicker is one of the most widely used response systems and the fastest-growing system in higher education. The university was committed to adopting one, campus-supported system so students would not have to purchase more than one clicker technology during their tenure at Southern Miss. The same clicker can be used in any class at Southern Miss using this technology. Additionally, having just one system on campus simplifies technical support and eliminates having conflicting software on a classroom computer. Clickers will be available for purchase by students through the Barnes and Noble Bookstore at Southern Miss. When students purchase textbooks, it will be specified if a clicker is needed for the class (following the same procedure used for textbooks). The bookstore will buy back used clickers just as they do textbooks. Students, please note that if multiple classes require using a clicker, you only have to purchase one. Clickers will provide students with an interactive technology solution to become more engaged in classroom lectures. It will allow faculty to enhance their learning atmosphere and teaching with interactive ways to connect with students in the classroom. http://www.usm.edu/itech/news/news.php?id=542 Tue, 17 Nov 2009 12:40:29 CST Wireless Authentication on the Hattiesburg Campus http://www.usm.edu/itech/news/news.php?id=541 Wireless Authentication on the Hattiesburg Campus For security purposes and to utilize wireless Internet access on any Southern Miss campus, the Hattiesburg campus faculty and staff will be need to log into SOAR and input the computer’s (USM or personal computer) wireless MAC address under the employee ID.
