Volunteers saved the Mississippi Gulf Coast and are saving it still...
In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, volunteers from around the country and the world poured onto the Mississippi Gulf Coast with food, water and supplies to help devastated Mississippians rise from the debris. Volunteers continue to return to the Coast to assist the grateful survivors.

The Katrina Research Center seeks to preserve and expand upon the lessons of Katrina and disasters like her for the benefit of those who will face the challenge of the next epic catastrophe.

The KRC is still gathering eye witness accounts, photos, relics, books, videotapes, DVDs, CDs and other materials related to Hurricane Katrina and its impact on the state of Mississippi. If you have something that you would like to donate to the KRC, contact our librarian at 228.214.3416 or e-mail Shugana.Campbell@usm.edu. You can also click here if you are a Southern Miss faculty member who has published work related to Hurricane Kartina and would like to have it become part of the KRC Collection.

The Katrina Research Center is a unit of The University of Southern Mississippi reporting to the Associate Provost for the Gulf Coast, Dr. Pat Joachim.
