Guidelines
The University of Southern Mississippi's Katrina Research
Center (KRC) collects, preserves and provides both physical
and virtual access to documentary evidence related to
Hurricane Katrina. The KRC is building a comprehensive
archive of research materials in a variety of formats.
Photographs, oral histories, architectural records,
storm and recovery video and other items are needed.
The KRC Website will link to online resources such as
websites and databases.
Scope: Mississippi, especially the Gulf Coast.
The KRC is actively seeking donations of items such
as:
> Photographs: both before and after Katrina.
> Journals, diaries
> Letters, emails
> Printed items such as flyers, posters, newsletters
> Oral histories
> Video
> Websites: Message boards, blogs, etc.
> Sound recordings
> Literary works
> Art
> Organizational records
> Government documents
> Planning documents
> Architectural records
> Scientific data
A note about artifacts: Three-dimensional artifacts
(such as personal possessions recovered from the storm)
may be of interest if it is determined that the items
hold lasting research value.
Donor Agreements: While
donors sign over physical property rights to the University
of Southern Mississippi, the donor agreement allows
contributors to either retain intellectual property
rights or transfer those rights to the archive.
If you're interested in donating an item to the Katrina Research Center, you may contact Shugana Campbell-Williams at 228.214.3423 or e-mail krc@usm.edu. |
