Thad Cochran Center Conference This April 21-23, 2008, you are invited to attend the third annual Eagle Institute for School Leaders at the University of Southern Mississippi. Convened by State Superintendent Hank Bounds and USM President Martha Saunders, the conference, Change and the Courage to Lead, will be a powerful colloquium on school leadership in a time of rapid change. That certainly describes the situation in Mississippi! Tim Waters, president of McREL, will lead us in exploring McREL’s Balanced Leadership Framework and understanding First and Second Order Change. Grant Wiggins will take us through the leadership skills needed for implementing Schooling by Design, Depth of Knowledge, and the Curriculum Framer. Dr. Bounds will have the latest on Mississippi’s plans for educational innovation, including an update on the MCT-II. These and many other outstanding speakers will help you guide your district in not only understanding the complex dynamics of the change process, but also in applying this understanding to Mississippi’s current change agenda. Participants will explore these topics in greater detail during breakout sessions. We encourage you to bring teams of leaders from your districts, schools, and classrooms in order to cover all that the Institute has to offer. There will be team discounts and we will dedicate conference sessions to planning by these team members, who will have this opportunity to consult in greater depth with our outstanding speakers. Who should attend?
