Dr. Gordon C. Cannon, Vice Provost for Research at The University of Southern Mississippi discussed the current research and scholarship processes at New Faculty Orientation on August 20, 2012.  Dr. Cannon described the New Grant Development Program and the Center for Undergraduate Research.  Cannon also outlined the “Do’s” and “Don’ts” for managing grant-supported research.  Throughout the presentation, he emphasized the importance of starting the research project and proposal development process early, as well as, the significance of creating a well-justified budget.
