Interactive Classrooms
The primary purpose of the Southern Miss Interactive Classroom is to share academic courses between the Hattiesburg campus and regional Southern Miss campuses. In this way, the University increases the availability of programs and faculty that were previously available to only one campus. Our Videoconferencing systems are standards based. We connect utilizing SIP or H.323 protocols. Each unit is capable of handling calls up to 1.5mbps. Our current facilities include seven classrooms at the following locations.
Services
Videoconferencing enables you to see, hear, speak, as well as share documents and other information with students, customers, suppliers, business associates, or employees in various locations in a real-time meeting environment. A typical classroom contains two TV monitors, and one large multimedia screen. Rooms are equipped with one DVD/VHS combo unit for taping or playback, document camera for sharing “hard copy” documents with the remote site(s), and a computer to display PowerPoint Presentations or Internet on the monitor.
