Faculty First Year Experience (FFYE)
The Office of the Provost along with the Learning Enhancement Center (LEC) will offer a series of seminars tailored to the needs of new faculty here at Southern Miss.
FFYE seminars are held on Fridays from noon to 2 p.m. in Room 318 in the International Center.

October 5, 2012 - Things to Know Prior to Mid-term and Advisement Week
Join the staff of the Registrar’s Office and be prepared for mid-term and advisement week. This session will focus on SOAR (class rosters, posting grades, faculty center, etc.), FERPA, utilizing the Southern Miss SMART Sheet (student transcripts), tips for successfully advising students, general education core curriculum, and classroom location assignments. Join your fellow faculty members and understand how to become successful in the areas of research, publishing, and data interpretation. You will also learn how to advance with creative and scholarly activities to become successful at Southern Miss. February 1, 2013 - Planning for Pre-Tenure Review, Promotion, and Tenure
Promotion is based on achievements to date and tenure is given based on perceived promise for the future. With this in mind, faculty will learn how to best prepare for a successful third year review as well as tenure and promotion. Teaching, research, service, and collegiality will all be discussed.
