SMART Classrooms

SMART Classroom development began in 2001 when the U.S. Department of Education awarded a Title III-A Strengthening of Institution grant to Southern Miss.  The grant was awarded to support the implementation of the institution’s strategic plan for the integration of instructional technology into its teaching and learning environment. Subsequently, 38 classrooms on both the Hattiesburg and Gulf Coast campuses were equipped with SMART Sympodiums.

The SMART Sympodium is the latest state-of-the-art interactive lectern integration module that allows faculty, students, and staff to write notes, annotate over applications, present multimedia and save their work in a single file, all from one interactive screen.
