This session will focus on best practices for design of oral assignments for capstone classes. We will also discuss assignment options and troubleshooting. This session is designed for instructors scheduled to teach capstone courses in spring 2010 who have not yet had the opportunity to participate in the full ten-week faculty seminar.

using Dreamweaver CS3 or Dreamweaver CS4 to edit a University website, a
LEC staff member will be available at this time to assist you. Please note
that this session is NOT intended as a formal workshop regarding
Dreamweaver, and we cannot assist with complex design or redesign issues. It
is available as a help and troubleshooting session only for basic site setup
and editing tasks.

Blackboard Orientation - Nov 19, 2009

Blackboard CE8 - Basic Introduction
Prerequisites: Basic computer skills required.
This 1.5 hour, session will cover several of the basic, introductory tools and features to help instructors get started using Blackboard (the officially supported online course management system used at Southern Miss).
During this workshop we will cover the following topics:
- Accessing a course
- Checking Browser compatibility
- Course navigation
- Adding Tools
- Creating basic content
- Adding a syllabus
- Adding files and folders to a course
- Organizing files and folders
- Action links
- Requesting a course supplement

Faculty First Year: Planning for Third Year Review, Promotion, and Tenure - Feb 26, 2010

Promotion is based on achievements to date and tenure is given based on perceived promise for the future. With this in mind, faculty will learn how to best prepare for a successful third year review as well as tenure and promotion. Teaching, research, service, and collegiality will all be discussed. Presenters will include University administration, deans, and faculty.
