Become Licensed

The University of Southern Mississippi maintains an independent licensing program. As an independent program, Southern Miss is able to negotiate directly with manufacturers who wish to become licensed to produce products displaying our name and trademarks.

The Southern Miss licensing agreement is a one-year nonexclusive agreement, which calls for a 8.5 percent royalty to be reported quarterly. Southern Miss requires that all licensees maintain at least $1 million in product liability insurance, naming the university as an additional insured.

Potential licensees will be asked to complete an information form and provide a sample of the proposed licensed product or products. A $100 administration fee is also required.

Approvals must be obtained for merchandise prior to any sale or distribution. In addition, all products must bear the licensed product label.

For more information on becoming licensed or to request a licensing packet, contact Gene Fitts.
