Committee Structure, Responsibilities and Leadership

 

Symposium Executive Oversight Committee:

    • Chair: Mary Ann Moon - MS Legislative and Consulting Group, LLC & CLTT IAC - President
    • Co-Chair: Jeff Ely - Mississippi Department of Transportation & CLTT IAC – Vice-President
    • Co-Chair: Teresa Adams – University of Wisconsin – Madison
    • Co-Chair: Tulio Sulbaran – The University of Southern Mississippi – CLTT Director

Responsibility: Overseeing the successful planning and execution of the symposium, securing sponsors, developing the symposium schedule (Industry Track, Faculty Track, Students Track, K-12 Track), overall organization and venue selection; Appoint various committee chairs; select and invite key note speakers; Ensure updated and accurate symposium web site, and Disseminate information about the symposium, work with other committees in the planning of the symposium, organize space (including room set-up), set-up meals and breaks, organize tours, and other local logistics. This committee also works with the local Convention & Visitors’ Bureau, if applicable

Finance Committee

  • Chair: Anthony Hauer - Natchez-Adams County Port Commission & CLTT IAC – Treasurer/Secretary
  • Co-Chair: Tom Schoemann - The University of Southern Mississippi – CLTT Operations Manager

Responsibility: Prepare a conference budget and expenses; Establish/manage conference account; Establish Registration/Payment system; Plans and runs conference registration (both advance and on site) procedures and logistics, including handling of credit card fees, cancellation policy, Request Quotes/Budgets, Ensure all financial, tax, insurance, and audit requirements; Produce financial reports, Ensure that all symposium expenses are paid; follow-up with sponsorship leads/commitments, process sponsorships, Conference Financial closing. Responsible for the final audit, if required.

Industry Presentation Track Committee:

  • Chair: Tulio Sulbaran - The University of Southern Mississippi – CLTT Director
  • Co-Chair: Greg Waidley – University of Wisconsin – Madison
  • Co-Chair: Dan Pallme - The University of Memphis
  • Members: Carol / Jessica – U.S Chamber of Commerce
  • Members: Natalia Diaz – Jackson County Economic Development Foundation

Responsibility: Advise the CLTT IAC Symposium Committee on industry presentations.  Suggest possible guest speakers. Solicit participation from industry professionals to server as speakers/panelists/moderators and to attend the symposium.  Share information about the Symposium with industry professionals. Possibly review presentations, and help facilitate arrangements for speakers (if needed).

Academic Peer Review Papers and Presentation Track Committee:

  • Chair: Chad Miller - The University of Southern Mississippi – CLTT Assistant Director
  • Co-Chair: Mohammad Rahman - The University of Southern Mississippi – CLTT Affiliated Faculty

Responsibility:Everything related to academic peer review papers such as but not limited to: Disseminate the call for papers; Review academic paper/abstract; Disseminate reviewers’ comments, Make final categorical decision on papers acceptance/rejection; Ensure academic standard rigor in the review process; schedule academic presentation within the allocated time.

Students’ Speed Interview Committee

Responsibility: Everything related to students’ speed interview activities such as but not limited to:

Students’ Posters and Competition Committee:

Responsibility: Everything related to students’ poster and competition activities such as but not limited to: Organize that a well-balanced Competition, high-quality poster to present at the symposium; Handle the Call for Poster and Competition; evaluate competing teams and decide on 1st, 2nd and 3rd place; secure judges for to evaluate teams; disseminate call for posters and competing team.

K-12 Family Night Track Committee:

  • Chair: Joan Chadde - Michigan Technological University
  • Co-Chair: Susan Dollar - Principal - Ocean Springs Upper Elementary School (4-6 Grade)
  • Co-Chair: Carla McCaleb - Assistant Principal - Ocean Springs Upper Elementary School (4-6 Grade)
  • Co-Chair: Tom Schoemann - The University of Southern Mississippi – CLTT Operations Manager

Responsibility: Everything related with the K-12 Family Transportation Night to take place at a local school, Ocean Springs Upper Elementary School (Grades 4-6). The Committee will contact the school to provide an overview of the event, provide  a flyer, and provide a list of what is expected from the school (rooms needed, recruitment of families to attend, local publicity, registration table, greeters, etc.). The K12 Track Committee will recruit presenters from the participating  universities at the conference and identify the transportation activities that will be presented. Transportation for all presenters to the school will be arranged for the day of the event. In addition, a program, door signs, pre/post student surveys, and parent evaluations will be provided. Photographs will be taken at the event and posted to the Symposium and CFIRE websites.

Marketing and Publications Committee:

Responsibility: Promotes the symposium through placements in various publication calendars and advertisements and news media. Prepare media contacts; Utilize lists of past and potential attendees for targeted outreach; Manage the Web site for any social-media applications; Accountable for the coordination of symposium content; Production of content (e.g., Web-Base Proceedings, symposium papers, programs, etc.).
