How
do I apply to the USM Master of Science or Ph.D.
programs in Marine Science or Hydrographic Science?
1. Complete an application online at https://www.usm.edu/gradapp/ and follow instructions for submitting application, transcripts,
and Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores to the appropriate office. International students must also provide TOEFL scores. All applicants must submit a $30 non-refundable fee.
2. U.S. Citizens and Resident Aliens should have three recommendations from people familiar
with your academic performance sent on your
behalf directly to the Chair, Department of
Marine Science, 1020 Balch Blvd., Stennis Space
Center, MS 39529, USA. International applicants must send their letters to the Office of International Admissions at the address given above.
3. Prepare a one or two page statement of purpose
(or letter of intent) describing your academic
goals and research interests and send it to
the Chair, Department of Marine Science, 1020
Balch Blvd., Stennis Space Center, MS 39529, USA.

to our program make sure that you specify "Marine Science"
and the appropriate degree (MS or PhD) and emphasis area (biological, chemical, geological, physical) or "Hydrographic Science MS " for your degree plan.
