Dr.
Alan M. Shiller, Professor of
Marine Science has 20 years of experience in
environmental metals analysis. He earned a B.S.
from Caltech, a Ph.D. from the Scripps Institution
of Oceanography and was a postdoc at MIT. He
has performed research and published papers
on dissolved metals in rivers, estuaries, and
the open ocean. He has worked with the US Geological
Survey to revise their sampling and processing
protocols for dissolved metals in rivers. Further
