About Us

The USM Department of Marine Science began in the mid-1980's when the state assigned the university the leadership role in marine science. We offer degrees in both Marine and Hydrographic Science that emphasize inter-disciplinary approaches in which all students obtain a working understanding of the major fields of marine science.
