Don Roman, director of the Hydrographic Science Research Center at DMS, is heading up the Coastal Zone Mapping and Imaging Lidar (CZMIL) System Project. In partnership with Optech International at Stennis International Airport, this project has received second-year funding from the Army Corps of Engineers to develop the next generation airborne coastal mapping and charting system. Intended for use by USACE, the Navy and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, this multi-year project will result in significantly improved coastal mapping for both normal and emergency response by the three federal agencies.
More information about the program can be found here.
