The meeting was conceived primarily as a local forum where researchers from the universities and
research centers from Mississippi, Louisiana and neighboring states would
present their work. It was also viewed as a gathering where scientists in all
areas of computation could develop links between its various threads in an
informal atmosphere. The conference was organized by
The University of Southern Mississippi
Department of Computer Science and Statistics
in cooperation with
Department of Mathematics
Seven keynote addresses were delivered:
- W. Abramowicz (The Poznam University) Information Filters Supplying Management Information
- J. Wasniewski (UNI-C Danish Supercomputing Center) Linear Algebra with Recursive Algorithms (LAWRA)
- L. Brugnano (Universita di Firenze) Blended Block Implicit Methods for the Numerical Solution
of ODEs
- L.Fishman (Naval Research Laboratory) The Role of Operator Symbols in Classical Elliptic Wave Propogation
- G. Fairweather (Colorado School of Mines) Orthogonal Spline Collocation Methods for Differential Equations
- K. Shaw (Naval Research Lab) The Object-Oriented GIDB-Taking Mapping to a Higher Plane
