Flowers on Ramanujan's birthday!

Does the math department have a secret admirer? On December 22, 2012, someone strolled into our office and left a vase of flowers on the counter.

Closer inspection reveals a name and date:

RAMANUJAN: Decemeber 22 2012. Is this a subtle threat related to the Mayan calendar? In fact, it's a reference to the birth date of Srinivasa Ramanujan, a brilliant Indian mathematical prodigy whose influence on number theory continues to the present day.

The department expresses its profoundest thanks to our secret admirer, and hints that if he or she wishes to sweeten the aroma of our office again, the birthday of Paul Erdős is on March 26th.
