Madrid
The MATL program has offered students the opportunity of studying and living in Madrid, one of the most beautiful of European cities. Many public and political institutions make their home in this capital city, host to a variety of concerts, theaters, exhibitions, operas and many museums. Residents and visitors often spend their time in the halls of El Prado, The Museo National Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, The Museo Thyssen-Bernemizsa, The Museo de America, The Casa Museo Lope de Vega, and The Museo Romantico and well as many other points of interest. (Madrid picture) As a student of the Spanish language and culture in Madrid, you would want to visit important sites such as: The Biblioteca National; The Biblioteca Municipal; The Real Academia de la Lengua; The Madrid Hemeroteca; Numerous city and neighborhood libraries; and The Madrid City Cultural Center. For students who are presently teachers and future teachers, the location presents a wonderful opportunity to take advantage of the availability of new and used books at local book stores.

Madrid is a nocturnal city and as such, offers the visitor plenty to do and see during the evening and late night hours. There are many wonderful restaurants, bars, taverns, shows, operas, ballets, concerts, cinemas and clubs, which are an integral aspect of city life in a city “that never sleeps.” For more information about Madrid, visit www.red2000.com.
