About Minisessions
Minisession dates are as follows:
- May 12-23, 2008
- August 4 - 15, 2008
Courses will meet in one-or two-week sessions. One-week sessions will meet daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Two-week sessions will meet four hours per day from either 8 a.m. to noon or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. daily or 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Credit for Minisession classes is attached to the semester following the Minisession. For example, January Minisession is connected to spring semester, and August Minisession is connected to fall semester. The credit hours you take during a Minisession will count as part of your regular semester enrollment for federal and state financial aid programs; for example, if you take 3 hours in the fall Minisession and 14 hours during regular fall session, your total load for fall semester will be 17 hours.
Cost for Minisession
Please see Business Services for the current tuition rates
* Graduate Non-Resident fees are waived for part-time graduate students.
* Students have 2 working days from the beginning of the Minisession to drop and receive financial credit.
Financial Aid
It is possible to receive financial aid to help pay the cost of the Minisession course, but only if you are also enrolled in regular term courses, e.g., fall and spring.
Students should contact the Financial Aid Office directly if they wish to inquire about eligibility for Minisession aid. Tuition, fees, books and supply costs associated with the Minisession courses can be added to the student’s other allowable regular semester cost. Eligibility for financial aid awards is then based on those allowable costs. If students have already used the maximum allowable amount of student aid during the regular semesters, they may not qualify for additional financial aid for Minisession. However, please contact Financial Aid if you have any questions about your eligibility for Minisession financial assistance (601-266-4774). You can also visit the Financial Aid website for more information: http://www.usm.edu/financialaid/
Graduate Assistantships and Minisession
Graduate Assistantships will not cover the cost of graduate tuition for Minisession courses.
Scholarships and Waivers
Undergraduate academic scholarships and out-of-state tuition waivers are not applicable to enrollment in a Minisession course. Out-of-state fees will be incurred for all applicable students.
