Recognition of MRSEC Research

  • February 2007
    • The article published in the February 2007 issue of Biomacromolecules entitled "Antibacterial Surfaces on Expanded Polytetrafluoroethylene; Penicillin Attachment", authored by N. Aumsuwan, S. Heihorst and M.W. Urban has been featured in several national and international publications ranging from Forbes magazine in the US to the Chinese daily news agency Xinhuanet and Australian magazine New Scientist detailing research that could help prevent dangerous post-surgical infections.

  • National Chemistry Week 2006
    • The article entitled "State of Understanding of Nafion", authored by Drs. Moore and Mauritz published in Chemical Reviews, was selected as one of the American Chemical Society Hot Papaers of most-cited papers worldwide.
  • September 10, 2005
    • Dr. Sabine Heinhorst, Professor of Biochemistry and Chemistry, was awarded the prestigious T.W. Bennett Professorship at The University of Southern Mississippi.
  • October 17, 2005
    • American Chemical Society "Heart Cut," a news weekly published electronically by the ACS Molecule of the Week, recognized and highlighted the article entitled "Controlled Phospholipid Functionalization of Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes" authored by P. He and Marek W. Urban, published in Biomacromolecules, 6(5), 2455-2457, 2005.
  • October 24, 2005
    • American Chemical Society published the list of most-accessed articles from January - June 2005.
      The paper entitled "Synthesis, Characterization, and Antibacterial Activities of Novel Methacrylate Polymers Containing Norfloxacin", authored by Bekir Dizman, Mohamed O. Elasri, and Lon J. Mathias was in the top twenty most-accessed articles published in Biomacromolecules, 2005, 6(1), pp 514-520.
