Adjunct Jazz Guitar Instructor
Chris Alford is an accomplished creative guitarist, composer and educator that is highly in demand throughout the region.
Alford has been teaching applied Jazz guitar at The University of Southern Mississippi since 2007. Previous teaching positions were held at Belhaven College and Copiah-Lincoln Community College
Since completing studies at Belmont University (B.M.) and Roosevelt University (M.M.) Alford has toured throughout the country performing and recording in a variety of settings. He has performed with such artist as Cassandra Wilson, Reginald Veal, James Singleton, Alvin Fielder, Lew Soloff, Simon Lott, Rhonda Richmond, Regi Wooten and many more.
His latest recording, “Out of Here” features original compositions in a stripped down trio setting. The recording features Memphis stalwarts Paul Taylor and Jonathan Wires.
