Marcos Machado enjoys an international career as a concert artist, teacher, and chamber musician. Important performances included the South American premiere of Frank Proto's "A Carmen Fantasy" which was broadcast on public television. He has appeared as a soloist in Italy, Portugal, Brazil, Switzerland, Germany, England, etc. Composer Frank Proto described Machado's performances as "beautiful and brilliant."

Dr. Machado, a native of Brazil, has been living in the United States since 1996.   He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) degree from the University of Illinois, where he studied with contemporary music specialist Michael Cameron. He has also specialized with renowned double bassists in Europe such as Franco Pettrachi (Italy); Duncan McTier (Switzerland); and in France with double bass icon Francois Rabbath. In 2005, Dr. Machado joined the School of Music faculty at The University of Southern Mississippi.

In 2006, Dr. Machado will be teaching summer courses and performing recitals in Brazil in conjunction with his teaching and performance schedule and will release his first CD.
