Fall 2009 Ensemble Audition Information

Ensemble auditions will be held 5:30-8:00 pm on August 24, 2009.  Come by my studio before classes start to sign up for your specific audition time.  If you would like a brief lesson on the audition material before the auditions take place, I will offer some lesson times during the first three days of classes.  Sign up for these times before classes start.

Begin preparing the orchestral excerpts now by listening to a full orchestral recording of each piece. Each piece should be available from NAXOS, which you can access for free from the USM Libraries website.  Most are probably available on CDs in the library collection.  If possible, study the score to find out which instruments play with the bassoon in the given excerpts.  Your ultimate performance tempi should approximate an actual performance tempo for each work.  It is always a good idea to listen to multiple recordings to come up with an average acceptable tempo. 

PLEASE NOTE:  If you are auditioning for a band only, you only need to prepare the Bach, Dukas, and Brahms.
