OTHER OPPORTUNITIES
The University of Southern Miss boasts a number of very fine ensembles including the USM Symphony Orchestra, The Pride of Mississippi marching band, and three separate ensembles within the department of University Bands, including the acclaimed Southern Miss Wind Ensemble. USM music students are encouraged to assemble chamber music ensembles, for which coaching is available. Clarinet choir also provides students with the opportunity to work in a small ensemble environment.
The School of Music also hosts two concerto competitions in association with the Wind Ensemble and the Symphony Orchestra.
