Darko began his musical studies at the age of 7 in his native country of Yugoslavia and had graduated from the Music Conservatory of Belgrade University at the age of 18. In 1984 Darko moved to the United States and received a full scholarship to the Juilliard School of Music in New York City. Upon the graduation, he embarked on a series of classical and jazz concert tours throughout Europe, as well as of solo performances and recordings in the New York City metropolitan area.
Darko performed on many of the most prestigious concert stages around the world - from New York City, Rome, Amsterdam and London to Tokyo and Beijing; and with many music industry greats - from Pete Fountain and Leontine Price, to the Juilliard Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic. He has released four solo albums and has appeared on numerous other releases as a guest soloist.
In addition to performing and recording, Darko has taught at a number of schools and universities as a faculty member and as a guest lecturer. He earned his summa cum laude graduate degree in philosophy and humanities at the City University of New York, and is currently an assistant professor and the coordinator of the Entertainment Industry Program at The University of Southern Mississippi.
Ever since 1991, Darko has been professionally involved in the production and business aspects of the music industry, as well, serving as a music producer, an executive producer, a program director and a master engineer at New York City’s Studio Design and Solutions, Jazz Enterprise Productions, and his own recording production and record label - Grace Productions Group. His production projects have led him to collaboration and work with a number of European and American major record labels, including EMI, Fonos, Def Jam, Polygram, Arista and Sony.
