This summer, Mississippi INBRE Research Scholars are proving that ground-breaking research is not solely conducted by those with a doctorate degree. This dedicated group of 31 undergraduate students from all parts of Mississippi is making biomedical research discoveries that could save lives in the future and will further them in their goals of entering the biomedical research field.
One such student is Terra Parker, recent graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in biology and a chemistry minor.
The Children’s Center for Communication and Development at The University of Southern Mississippi has received a donation of $11,065 from the Rotary Club of Hattiesburg, which represents proceeds from the organization’s annual “Night in Italy” benefit dinner.

Workers continue in the final stage of construction on two of three new buildings within the Century Park South residential complex at The University of Southern Mississippi Hattiesburg campus on Wednesday, July 23. In response to student interest as well as meeting industry needs, the Department of Human Capital Development at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park campus has updated its master’s degree program with the new name of Master of Science degree in human capital development.
The National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) at The University of Southern Mississippi awarded the Certified Sport Security Professional (CSSP) certification to some of the top professsionals in the industry during the 2014 National Sports Safety and Security and Exhibition July 8-10 in Indianapolis. It is the nation’s first professional security credential designed for those responsible for the planning and overall security operations of sport venues and events.
