The University of Southern Mississippi has accepted an invitation to play in the third annual Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl in St. Petersburg, Fla., Dec. 21, against an opponent from the Big East Conference.

Holiday cheer will be overflowing during the fourth annual “Lighting the Way” celebration on Wednesday, Dec. 1 at The University of Southern Mississippi Hattiesburg campus.

The program gets underway at 6 p.m. with vocal performances, free hot chocolate, photos with Seymour and the official lighting of the Christmas tree.

Eleanor Clift, one of Washington’s best known journalists, will present“Countdown to 2012: the Road Ahead” at The University of Southern Mississippi Forum Lecture Series Nov. 30 at 6:30 p.m. in Bennett Auditorium on the Hattiesburg campus.

Southern Miss students and employees are currently unable to receive calls from off campus or make calls to off-campus numbers through university land line phones due to technical difficulties experienced by service provider AT&T. The company is working to correct the problem.

Until this matter is resolved, phone calls may be made phone-to-phone via campus land lines. In case of an emergency, University Police may be reached by dialing 6-4986, but NOT through the 911 emergency phone system.

Please note other campus phone systems may be out of order at this time, including the following:

·         Elevator emergency phones

·         Code Blue phones

·         Emergency call phones in residence halls
