Could downtown Hattiesburg become a veritable Margaritaville?

A group of creative marketing students at The University of Southern Mississippi certainly think so and pitched that very idea to Historic Hattiesburg Downtown Association Executive Director Betsy Rowell recently. Rowell served as the “client” while 11 teams of Southern Miss students delivered presentations designed to rejuvenate and invigorate downtown Hattiesburg.

After four years of honing their artistic skill, 13 graduating seniors of the Department of Art and Design at The University of Southern Mississippi will celebrate their academic achievements Dec. 2 - 10 with an exhibition of their works at the university’s Museum of Art.

The Center for Child Development at The University of Southern Mississippi, located at 3404 Morningside Drive at the northwest corner of the Hattiesburg campus, is hosting a silent auction now through Friday to raise funds to purchase new playground equipment.

There is no denying the great strides Southern Miss has made since its founding in 1910.
