University of Southern Mississippi psychology professor Dr. Stan Kuczaj’s research on dolphin cognition and behavior will be featured in an episode of NOVA, the science television show produced by Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 8 p.m. on Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB)

Former FBI agents James McGee and Ray Mey conduct disaster training workshops around the world and both preach the same message for those who attend – “never stop preparing.”

 

McGee and Mey drove that point home repeatedly while serving as facilitators in a table top exercise held on Feb. 2 at the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety (NCS4) and Security at The University of Southern Mississippi.

The School of Music and University Bands at The University of Southern Mississippi will present the third annual PRISM concert on Feb. 10 at the Thad Cochran Center Ballroom.

 

The concert will feature many of the performing ensembles in the School of Music including The Pride of Mississippi Marching Band, Studio Ensembles, Steel Pan Ensemble and the Southern Miss Jazz Sextet.

University of Southern Mississippi President Martha Saunders and members of the Executive Cabinet have accepted the recommendations of the Program Elimination Appeals Committee regarding academic programs scheduled for elimination in fiscal year 2012.

Due to a forecast of inclement winter weather, night classes are cancelled today, Thursday, Feb. 3, at The University of Southern Mississippi’s Hattiesburg campus. Students in classes that begin in the afternoon, but extend beyond 5 p.m., should consult with their instructor. Night classes will be held as scheduled at all Southern Miss Gulf Coast locations.

 

Classes will be held as scheduled Friday at all Southern Miss locations.

 

Southern Miss students, faculty and staff are urged to use caution when traveling because of potentially hazardous conditions brought on by this weather system. Check local television, radio and Internet weather news for updates.
