Media Advisory for Week of April 11-17

The University of Southern Mississippi’s Summer Program for Academically Talented Youth will be held July 3-22 on the Hattiesburg campus and hosted by the Frances Karnes Center for Gifted Studies. Application deadline is Saturday, April 30. 

The three-week residential program is a cooperative effort with the Duke University Talent Identification Program that provides a balance of educational, cultural, and recreational experiences. It serves eligible students currently enrolled in grades 7 through 10.

American Indian POW WOWs have become a tradition at The University of Southern Mississippi. Each year, Southeastern tribes gather in Hattiesburg for a lively blend of ceremonial dancing, social gathering and native artistry.

Thursday morning’s grand opening of The University of Southern Mississippi’s new parking garage signals the addition of approximately 1,200 vehicle spaces to the Hattiesburg campus.

The five-story, open zone facility is available to students, faculty and staff driving vehicles registered through the university’s Department of Parking Management.

Built in response to a need for additional parking options, it also includes security lighting, handicapped parking and elevators and will be patrolled regularly by the University Police Department. It is located off of West Fourth Street next to Bond Hall.
