As The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast presents its 2011 commencement ceremony Saturday, May 14 in the Mississippi Coast Coliseum, it will be twice as special for one family celebrating the graduation of both mother and daughter.


The University of Southern Mississippi’s undergraduate and graduate programs in Instructional Technology will now be offered through the College of Education and Psychology’s Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Special Education (CISE) beginning in the summer 2011 semester.


An ocean divides the United States and United Kingdom but scientists and researchers in both countries are discovering new ways to create intellectual bridges.


That was never more apparent than during a recent visit by an 18-person contingent from the U.K. to The University of Southern Mississippi’s National Formulation Science Laboratory located in the business and technology incubator known as The Accelerator.


A month-long fundraising initiative at The University of Southern Mississippi to assist the earthquake/tsunami victims in Japan has yielded a substantial dividend.


There are inquisitive kids … and then there are youngsters like Peyton Robertson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., who take curiosity to a different level.


Robertson, a third-grader at Pine Crest School and an avid golfer, kept noticing that his tee shots went farther on warm days than on cold ones. And that led to his idea for a device that golfers could use to keep their golf balls warm in cold weather.


The University of Southern Mississippi’s de Grummond Children’s Literature Collection has been chosen as the home for a collection of material produced by one of the most renowned children’s literature authors and illustrators in America.
