Trucking Company Takes Pride in Delivering Twisted Steel to Hattiesburg

Emblazoned in special red, white and blue wrapping, a Marten Transport big rig is hauling precious cargo from New York City to Hattiesburg, Miss.

 

Two pieces of twisted steel from the World Trade Center twin towers that fell on Sept. 11, 2001 are on their way to Hattiesburg for ultimate transfer to The University of Southern Mississippi where they will be permanently displayed.

LONG BEACH, Miss. -- University of Southern Mississippi officials broke ground today on restoration projects at the Gulf Park campus involving Hardy Hall and Lloyd Hall – both of which were severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina six years ago.

Executive Committee Officers Chosen for Southern Miss Alumni Association

Dr. Alvin Williams has dedicated more than 30 years to The University of Southern Mississippi, and while the majority of his efforts have been as a professor and administrator, he was most recently named president of its Alumni Association Executive Committee.

Joining Williams on the executive committee are President-Elect Dale Shearer of Ridgeland, Vice President Benny Waddle of Hattiesburg, Past President Randy Pope of Hattiesburg and Finance Committee Chairman Donnie Tynes of Madison.
