The registration deadline has been extended until all spaces are filled for the Career Explorations for Girls Conference, set for Saturday, Oct. 8 at The University of Southern Mississippi. The event will be co-hosted by the Frances A. Karnes Center for Gifted Studies at Southern Miss and the Spirit of Women at Forrest General Hospital.

The University of Southern Mississippi School of Polymers and High Performance Materials will honor and memorialize the late Sidney Lauren, a leader in the coatings industry, on Friday Sept. 23 with the dedication of the Sidney Lauren Memorial Learning Center. The center is made possible by a generous donation from the Coatings Industry Education Foundation (CIEF).

François Rabbath, a world-renowned bassist, will be playing along with The University of Southern Mississippi Symphony Orchestra on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 7:30 p.m. in Bennett Auditorium. The concert, entitled “Vive La France,” will feature works composed and arranged by Grammy-nominated American composer and bassist Frank Proto.
