Linda Jordan, assistant to the dean for the College of Business at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast, was recently presented the 2011 Office Personnel Staff Excellence Award, which came with a commemorative plaque and a $1,200 monetary gift.

Russ Hendley, division vice-president of Hattiesburg Coca-Cola, will serve as the grand marshal for the Southern Miss Coca-Cola Classic Rodeo set for  Feb. 17-18 at the James Lynn Cartlidge Forrest County Multi Purpose Center on U.S. Highway 49 South in Hattiesburg, Miss.

It’s a time-honored adage that behind every successful man is a great woman. U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss) called upon that woman, his wife Gayle Wicker, to fill in for him Friday at The University of Southern Mississippi’s fall 2011 graduation.

Sen. Wicker was unable to fulfill his pre-arranged duties as speaker because of unanticipated legislative obligations in Washington, D.C. Gayle Wicker happily obliged, speaking at both ceremonies held at Reed Green Coliseum on the school’s Hattiesburg campus.

John White, a doctoral student at The University of Sothern Mississippi, will performing in Handel’s Messiah with The Mississippi Chorus Saturday, Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Wesley Biblical Seminary in Jackson, Miss.
