A $6.3 million renovation of The University of Southern Mississippi’s College Hall is underway, with university officials eagerly anticipating the project bringing the nearly century-old building back to its original grandeur.

Half a century ago, renowned cartoonist Ralph Dunagin honed his art skills at The University of Southern Mississippi. Now the semi-retired creator of “Dunagin’s People” wants to give back to the school that gave him so much.

University of Southern Mississippi senior quarterback Austin Davis was named the second winner of the Burlsworth Trophy, on Friday, Dec. 9, in Springdale, Ark., at a ceremony hosted by the Springdale (Ark.) Rotary Club. The award is given to the nation's most outstanding player who began his career as a walk-on. On hand to present the trophy to Davis was Marty Burlsworth, founder and CEO, of The Brandon Burlsworth Foundation.

The senior class of 18 students in the Department of Nutrition and Food Systems at The University of Southern Mississippi achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the ServSafe® examination.
