The Southern Miss School of Human Performance and Recreation’s therapeutic recreation program received a proclamation from Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny DuPree on Feb. 7 declaring February 2012 as Therapeutic Recreation Month in Hattiesburg, Miss.

Thanks to a gift from The First Bancshares, Inc., The University of Southern Mississippi Foundation’s Building Better Business Campaign has exceeded the $8 million mark on the way to reaching its $10 million goal.

 

In addition, Southern Miss alumnus Chuck Scianna has issued a matching gift challenge to help raise the remaining $2 million needed to move forward with construction of the new College of Business building this summer.

A 21-member search committee began work on Monday toward identifying the University of Southern Mississippi’s next athletic director.

 

The committee is charged with assisting University President Dr. Martha Saunders with the selection of the next athletic director, and is chaired by Spencer Adams, president of the University’s Athletic Foundation, and Chad Driskell, Saunders’ executive assistant for External Affairs.
