The University of Southern Mississippi Technology Learning Center (TLC) Golden Eagles wheelchair basketball team closed out its first season by winning the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) Gulf Coast Conference Championship held at Jackson State University.

 

The weekend-long tournament featured six teams from southeastern states vying for the title of NWBA Gulf Coast Conference Champion.

A last-minute decision to enter the Miss Collegiate America Pageant nearly resulted in a crowning for former University of Southern Mississippi student Christine Kozlowski, who captured the first runner-up spot in the annual competition held March 7-10 in San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Maureen Martin, director of The University of Southern Mississippi’s DuBard School for Language Disorders, has been elected president-elect of the Mississippi Speech-Language-Hearing Association (MSHA) for 2012. She will serve as president of MSHA in 2013.
