The National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) will facilitate the Severe Weather Planning for Sport Events workshop March 8 in Jackson at the Mississippi Center at Jackson State University E Campus.

With four teams from The University of Southern Mississippi and four teams from local community colleges, the competition in this year’s annual Scholars Bowl at Southern Miss Gulf Coast was especially tough.

The Mississippi Museum of Art will launch an exhibition today of nearly 80 original Curious George drawings today with a special preview party at 6 p.m. at the museum, , located at 380 South Lamar Street in Jackson. Titled “Curious George Saves the Day: The Art of Margret and H.A. Rey,” the exhibition includes items from the H.A. and Margret Rey papers held at The University of Southern Mississippi’s de Grummond Children’s Literature Collection.

C-SPAN3’s American History TV will broadcast a class lecture by University of Southern Mississippi history professor Dr. Susannah Ural Saturday, March 3 at 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. and Sunday, March 4 at noon Central Standard Time as part of the network’s “Lectures in History” program.
