When you think of a camping trip in the Mississippi summer, most people automatically think hot, hot and hot. 

For a group of young leaders with and without disabilities, heat was not an issue for their summer camping trip since they had an indoor camp-out combined with a wet weekend of fun. The one-night camping event, held last month, was hosted by the TRIAD Service AmeriCorps members and the Technology Learning Center, both a part of the Institute for Disability Studies on The University of Southern Mississippi’s Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.

Dr. Robert Lochhead, director of the School of Polymers and High Performance Materials at The University of Southern Mississippi, can offer living proof that a voice alone is enough to produce an award-winning presentation.

Chad Driskell, executive assistant to the president at The University of Southern Mississippi, has been selected to fill a vacancy on the Area Development Partnership’s Board of Directors created when former Southern Miss President Martha Saunders stepped down in June.

Scientists with The University of Southern Mississippi Department of Marine Science are part of a collaboration of colleagues from Dauphin Island Sea Lab and the University of Central Florida that last year examined a mysterious case of dolphin deaths along the Gulf Coast.
