The DuBard School for Language Disorders at Southern Miss will host the DuBard Association Method® Basic Course September 25-27 and October 16-18 from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. on the Southern Miss Hattiesburg campus.

There is still time to enroll for the fall 2012 semester at The University of Southern Mississippi, as late registration has been extended through Tuesday, Sept. 4. Financial aid is available for those who qualify.

Greek Life students at The University of Southern Mississippi can still find plenty of reasons to LOL, but the GPA is taking maximum precedence these days.

 

Joshua Schutts, assistant dean of students at Southern Miss, notes that the average grade point average for all Greek students currently sits at 3.07 – the highest number school officials can recall since at least the 1990s.

Dr. Shahid Karim, associate professor of biological sciences at The University of Southern Mississippi, has received a three-year grant from the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to study the disease-transmitting agents present in ticks and other blood-feeding anthropod vectors.

Classes will resume on The University of Southern Mississippi’s Hattiesburg campus on Thursday, while Southern Miss Gulf Coast will remain closed due to anticipated continuing effects of Tropical Storm Isaac.

 

Although conditions on the Hattiesburg campus are expected to improve throughout Thursday, students who are unable to commute safely to the Hattiesburg campus for Thursday classes are asked to alert their professors or contact the Office of Student-Oriented Services at 601.266.4025 beginning at 8 a.m. on Thursday.

The nonprofit Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Mobile Service Office will be at the following locations Sept. 4-7 in South Mississippi to personally provide counseling and claim filing assistance to veterans and their families. Like all DAV services, help from the Mobile Service Office is free.
