NCS4, SDM Magazine Announce Award for Innovation in Venue Security Design

The National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) at The University of Southern Mississippi and SDM Magazine announce the new “Golden Eagle Award” recognizing excellence in system integration, architecture, engineering and/or construction (A/E/C), specifically related to the safety and security of spectators, property and infrastructure of spectator event facilities.

Shortly after 8 a.m. on Friday Sept. 7, three vans pulled out from the Trent Lott Center on The University of Southern Mississippi Hattiesburg campus bound for the Mississippi Delta. Two sections of CMS 111H (Oral Communication) plus three faculty members/drivers set out in search of experience, information and insights into the Civil Rights Movement, the influence of The Blues on popular music, and the meaning of The Delta for the state and nation—all in the interest of developing speaking topics for the rest of the fall semester.

University Police Arrest Two Students in Conjunction with Fight on Campus

University of Southern Mississippi Police have arrested two students related to a fight on the Hattiesburg campus on Wednesday, Nov. 28. Those arrested include Anthony Alford and Korey Hathorn. Alford has been charged with aggravated assault, while Hathorn has been charged with felony possession of a weapon on campus by a student. No one was injured in the altercation.
