The University of Southern Mississippi recently established the Institute for Collaborative Research and Engagement (iCoRE), which was approved by the Institution of Higher Learning.  iCoRE is a faculty-led research hub in the College of Arts and Letters which assists in locating grant funding for research, proposal and budget development, and administrative forms and requirements.

Dr. Shahdad Naghshpour, professor of International Development at the University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast has published two new books by Business Expert Press.

Southern Miss Director of Athletics Jeff Hammond announced on Tuesday, Dec. 11 the hiring of Todd Monken as the school’s 20th football coach. The hiring is pending approval by the IHL Board of Trustees.

Monken comes to Southern Miss after serving the last two seasons as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Oklahoma State. It was his second stint at OSU, after serving as pass game coordinator and wide receivers coach there from 2002-04.

The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast will host spring 2013 orientation and registration Wednesday, Jan. 9 in the Fleming Education Center on the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach. Orientation for new undergraduate students will be 1 - 3 p.m. Registration and advisement for all new and returning students will be held from 2 – 6 p.m.
