Biology Graduate Student’s Poster Recognized at Annual Entomology Meeting

Nabanita Mukherjee, a second year masters student at The University of Southern Mississippi, won a second place award for Best Poster in Medical, Urban, & Veterinary Entomology Section of the Entomological Society of America (ESA) 2012 annual meeting last month in Knoxville, Tenn.

Retired Communication Studies professor was department’s ‘youngest thinker’

For many, retirement is viewed as the time to enjoy the fruits of one’s labor; to cash in the stock portfolio and pursue a more sedentary life filled with leisurely pursuits.

Dr. Don George, a professor in the Department of Communication Studies at Southern Miss from 1957-78, didn’t view it that way.

Student Health Services Open 2-5 p.m. Saturday Dec. 8, Sunday Dec. 9

University of Southern Mississippi Hattiesburg campus students, faculty or staff seeking treatment for the flu or other medical issues can visit the Student Health Services’ Beedie Smith Clinic this weekend only, Saturday, Dec. 8 or Sunday, Dec. 9 from 2-5 p.m., in addition to the clinic’s regular weekday hours. The clinic’s pharmacy will also be open both days.

Southern Miss Sorority Donates $41,000 to Make-A-Wish Foundation

Chi Omega Sorority at The University of Southern Mississippi presented a check for $41,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation as part of its annual fundraising efforts associated with Songfest.
