The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Libraries will host a reception Thursday, Jan. 17, from 4 – 6 p.m. for the art exhibit of the husband-and-wife team of John and Tricia McDonald. The exhibit will be on display at the library on the university’s Gulf Park campus in Long Beach through Feb. 28.

Innovate Mississippi (formerly the Mississippi Technology Alliance) has announced that Startup Weekend Jackson will take place Jan. 18-20 at Millsaps College. Startup Weekend is an intense 54-hour event powered by the Kauffman Foundation that operates worldwide and brings together like-minded entrepreneurs for a weekend of company creation.

Work to restore one of the original structures on The University of Southern Mississippi’s Hattiesburg campus to its former glory is in the final stages.

 

College Hall, built in 1912, will re-open during the fall 2013 semester and serve as home to its new occupant, the School of Mass Communication and Journalism. Campus radio station WUSM-FM and The Student Printz student newspaper will also call College Hall home after being housed in Southern Hall for several decades.
