New financial aid program should help Mississippi produce better teachers.

Reflecting on the impact made by Hurricane Katrina on the Mississippi Gulf Coast eight years ago, the Katrina Research Center (KRC) at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park campus will present Patchwork and Tales: Two Women Reflect on Katrina. The Hurricane Katrina anniversary event will be held Thursday, Aug. 29 at 5:30 p.m. in the KRC, located on the third floor of the library on the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.

The online Master of Science for Logistics, Trade and Transportation at The University of Southern Mississippi has been approved by the American Society of Transportation & Logistics Board of Examiners as an approved Certified in Transportation and Logistics academic program.

The Fannie Lou Hamer Cancer Foundation in Ruleville, Miss., recently received a generous donation of $9,000 from the Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility in Tutwiler.

Barnes & Noble, the official bookstore for The University of Southern Mississippi, has a new location on the university’s Gulf Park campus in Long Beach. The new 1,470-square-foot bookstore is now located in Hardy Hall and features a more expanded area for general university merchandise.
